So I am not exactly sure how momentous this is, but I just worked my first day at my new job. But wait, there's more!
I work at the Sheraton in Bellevue, Washington. It is a pretty upscale 'business class' hotel. To many [if not all] that means little. However, the Sheraton has rather strict “professional” appearance standards which prohibit piercings on males.
During my interview I was asked about my gauges. The lady who was interviewing me asked me “Do you do that for fun?” I told her that while it was fun, I did it for spiritual reasons and that i belonged to the CoBM. I explained how the church works etc etc etc.
Long story short, I now work at the Sheraton -with- my big gauges, and I am excused on the basis of religious beliefs. Its a pretty big step for myself, and hopefull one for the church as well.

HUZZAH! Congrats Allen! It's good to see that a corporation recognizes religious freedoms and practices, especially the Sheraton.

Congrats! I'm still trying to find a chance at work to talk to my manager about allowing me to wear my jewelry. I'm allowed to have jewelry in my ears and in my bridge (but only because it's still healing). Either I'm busy in the dish pit or my manager is busy in the kitchen (hopefully I'll have my chance this week).

Now THAT is interesting. I guess I'm blessed, as an engineer, that I have very little contact with the “outside” world, so they don't really question my mods. However, at this point, I don't know I'd fall back on CoBM as an “out,” even if I needed to. I don't know. Maybe. I'd have to have ALL my ducks in a row before I even considered it.

Definately cool. My husband has all his jewelry in at work, he works in a hospital steralization room cleaning instruments. Currently I'm off from work but during my student teaching no one said anything but then again, I'm not at any guages that most people notice lol. I do get lots of students though that always make comments like “Wow, there's a hole in your ear”, one girl put her finger up to the ear to see if she put it through lol. When working with some little ones, age 6, during my student teaching they would ask “Why is there a flower on your foot” . It's so cute!!

Awesome, I have to say I threw up some horns right after I finished reading ^_^ Just goes to show, being calm and honest about the fact of the situation will take you very far. Congratulations, Sheraton is a very respectable company I'm glad they treated you this way. I hope to talk to my manager soon, I'll be getting more work done in the near future, and I don't want to worry about restrictions. (Within reason for my line of work of course.)
