I noticed inside of a previous post that they were mentioned.

I think it's a splendid idea. Maybe for cost reasons … those that NEED proof of membership, for employment or otherwise …. you should consider having them as an option in the Online Store ?

I'm sure $10 or so would most likely cover the cost ? And those that wanted to simply support the site by way of membership alone … wouldn't need one. But everyone would have it available if they did in fact need it.

Perhaps an idea is that you maybe order through a business card service … ( Nice cards with nice designs of your choice are usually about $60 - 80 for 1000 full color cards. Which works out to what … 8 cents each ? ) Then you take said card … add it to a printer to print the members name … laminate it and send it off.

Those prices could end up being less if you only intend to use one side of the card … therefore proving to maybe and actually being cost effective.

Just a thought …..

I like this idea, it seems practical and cost effective. I think if both sides are used we sould totally have the mission statement on the back.

To become a confidant of the natural world, to awaken your eye to the lovely language of forms, to express yourself in that language.

Membership cards are a good idea and I know that they used to exist (though I never recieved one but that was because of several issues…)

Cards are relatively cheap (depending on where you go) a lot of print shops will even do design work for you (though I'd do the design work for free). I'll play around with some card designs and post them here when they're finished.

I'll buy a card. I just requested info on having custom credit card style cards made up… I'll let you know what they quoted. I was just curious. Laughing

Aha, I may be able to help with this part too, as I have an in the gift and loyalty business! I can see what kind of numbers I can finagle to share! (I don't know about personalization with member names though.)

To have good cards (think credit card) made through Duracard it'd run about $239.90 to have 250 cards printed up & shipped. That includes full color art on one side & reverse black and white printing on the other. That's just basic though. If we wanted a signature line or whatever we'd have to call.

I'm still waiting on the other quote (with the signature lines).

it sounds pretty good so far… $5-$10 bucks per card could earn a profit to go towards the church…

If anyone wants to take a look at the quote, I can forward the email to you, so far, the quoted seems like the better deal, although the minimum is higher.

I did a little shopping around with the people I know in the industry and they said that was a good price. The people I talked to charged 295 for the artwork and then another 1.30-1.70 per card depending on the order!

So good job on that one, I'd definitely buy one!

I'm going to hit up the coffee shops today and ask the owners how much their gift cards ran them and what companies they went through. I think that having membership cards would be a fairly valid idea, considering the only proof of membership we have is online and in our hearts, but in order to make it seem more valid to outsiders, to simply show them a card makes them trust it more than just saying “go to the website and check it out!”

I was explaining to a girl at work on Tuesday how the Church worked and the mission statement. She almost didn't seem to catch it until I handed her my laptop and told her to check it out. Imagine not having to carry a laptop all the time to show people.

So maybe business cards would be good too. Especially for ministers. I may make my own if it's alright with the church, so people can contact me locally with questions, and maybe setting up networks and meetings.

i like the idea of the cards. especially the idea of the mission statement on the back. dosent even have to be super trendy. maybe symbol on front in black with colored name or something. if they are made we will buy!

I thought I’d gone to the limits. I hadn’t. They gave me an experience beyond limits… pain and pleasure, indivisible.

Has anyone run this by Chris yet?  Might be a good idea to get the OFFICIAL go ahead on it or get input, as I know this has been discussed among board members in the past.  Awesome to see some speed behind the wheel, though, that's for sure!
