Continuing on from London's thread about us getting together, I'd really like to see this get into the works. I have some ideas, which I posted on London's thread, however I feel like more input needs to be had, and I started a new thread with a to the point title to hopefully get attention and ideas rolling.

In London's thread, someone mentioned having a more centrally located location for this. I live in Minneapolis there is a greyhound station, an airport, plenty of hotels/motels, and a hostel.

Our mass transit system is good, and the city is small enough that getting around on foot/by bicycle is really easy.

Some ideas for places:

Loring Park

Big, beautiful park right near downtown Minneapolis

Minnehaha Falls/Minnehaha Park

Huge park with trails going back through the woods with some really pretty scenery.

Hidden Beach

An “out-of-the-way” beach that used to be very little known. In recent years it's become less “hidden” but still a great place to go and enjoy the weather.

We've also got a number of other lakes, parks, and beaches. I'd also be able to help people out with directions on how to get around.

That looks like good place were we could all meet and it look peaceful as well. I think the first thing is ask the board members to look at are idea of what we have and what we think.I think some were not so public would be cool for the fact that if and ritauls go on their wont be to many complants about what we are doing .Something else to look at is sponsers that we could use for this meeting and for other Events, venders or fund raiser something that would help keep cost of things stay down for every one I dont think any one want to pay and arm and a leg

I think a church gathering is a great idea, but I don't know how central Minnesota is for everyone. Have the board weighed in on this yet?

Maybe we should form a official planning committee and put out a poll on possible places. (So says the newbie right?) I don't know how involved the membership are. So maybe we need to think more regionally, and do some regional events first. For example, East coast meet, West coast meet, Southwest/South and North/Northeast?. Easier on the budget and maybe a more feasible idea.

Anyway, I'd throw my hat in for Phoenix because we have lots of places that are very open to this sort of thing, and we have various vendors and entities that would loves to participate in an event like this. (but that could just be me not wanting to travel very far)

I wonder if Chicago would be good? Or maybe Minnesota is a good idea.

Regionally would be a good idea… but what exactly defines the regions?

I haven't talked with Russ or Tiffany yet as they're both out of town. My take is that local/regional gatherings would be best to start with as not everyone has the resources to travel long distances. I'm not sure that Greyhound is an option, either. For example, driving your own car from Raleigh, NC, to Chicago, IL, is 800 miles (13 hours). Via Greyhound is 20 hours including 4 transfers. Flying is clearly the best choice. Also, if we are to get together for a single gathering it seems prudent to schedule it for a full week and have a minimum number of people in attendance.

If we plan several smaller, regional gatherings first, it would help promote the CoBM and its message and also help gets the bugs out before a national meeting. (How's that for a run-on sentence?) I'll talk with Russ and Tiffany about this at our next board meeting and will let everyone know what we come up with. Until then, keep brainstorming and coming up with more great ideas.

That is an issue I see with doing regional gatherings. As far as I know, there is only one other Minnesotan member and I'm not sure about the surrounding states. I do see the reasoning though.

i know that we would get alot of attention in new york… we have a huge modified community, though not alot of church members from what i gather… nor do i run into too many spiritual modifiers… but yesterday i went to a tat shop I haven't been to a couple of blocks from my house (we have one one EVERY BLOCK, no joke) and i was talking to one of the shop guys about how i belong to the church and how i feel a spiritual connection to my modifications… he said he's always felt a connection to what he does but just didn't talk about it and had never heard of the church… i can honestly say that we NEED a gathering to share the love, to let others know that not everyone does it for fashion or rebellion… so i am DOWN for regional and i am DOWN for national… dagNABIT! we MUST MEET! what was that movie, “if you build it, they will come”? if we gather, we will come… i am sure we will… i hope we will… we should have rsvp though just in case…

I'd travel to Minneapolis, but that's about as far east I could afford if I drove. West… I usually end up in Portland on my travels, so Oregon, NorCal, Washington would work, so any regional buddies out there… If need be I can grab a map and do some basic regional outlines to vote on. Or just do it by timezone: North/South

Angel-gore: I do believe that there are other members down in OZ, perhaps you could have gatherings of your own?
