CoBM Member Running for Georgia State Senate

To be clear, the CoBM does not endorse specific political parties or candidates. Having said that, we would like to mention that one of our Church members, James Harrison Nixon, is running for State Senate in Georgia. As Mr. Nixon describes himself:

James Harrison Nixon is a normal person that cares for his state. A average working man that truly stands for the people in his district as well as Georgia.

Mr. Nixon, as a visibly modified person, is actively breaking commonly held stereotypes about what a modified person is capable of. It’s our hope that others running for the same seat will focus on the important issues and not try to use Mr. Nixon’s modifications as a point of contention .

You may find more information about Mr. Nixon and his bid for State Senate on his Facebook page.
For the sake of fairness, you may also check out Wikipedia for information on other hopefuls running for for the same position.

  1. This is so great. I’m not a follower of politics at all, but it’s great to see someone from the modified community step up like this. Best of luck!

  2. This is great. I love seeing modified people working to change the stigma attached to to our appearance. I hope he cares as much about his state and whats in the people of his states best interest as much as we all care about changing what people think of as  stereotypical for modified persons.

  3. I’ve been following his views and policy reform suggestions. He’s absolutely amazing and if I was in Georgia I would be voting for him in a second. We definitely need more politicians with his mind-set.

  4. I stumbled across an article about it earlier and I practically squealed with joy. This means great steps for one of the greatest organizations, and I am glad to be along for the ride. Screw conservative ideals about what hard-working folks have to look like, this is America. Of the people, for the people, and by the people.

  5. I am so happy to see a visually modified person running for office!!! This is a wonderful first step for the community! I hope he wins!
