So I have been recently debating on whether to split my tongue or not. For the longest time I have looked at it as " Oh hell no Ill never do that"…. and not in a negative or judgmental way, just felt it wasnt for me. But for about 4 months or so I have been considering it more and more every day. The main problem I am facing is I am currently pursuing a degree in Communication Disorders in order to become a speech and language pathologist. A lot of that career field looks down on tongue piercings, let alone a split. So I am stuck debating to split and do what I feel like I need to do as a personal mod for personal reasons versus planning the future career field that I may do. Any suggestions on weighing these pros and cons? Thanks guys.

I sat here for a minute thinking about what to write. At first I started writing that it's a matter of priority, and that you should do what is most important to you. I don't think that's correct though. I think it's possible to say that one thing is more important and has a higher priority but that you will accomplish the other thing first to facilitate a better outcome. In fact, that may even be the best answer. By putting your tongue split off by a couple years, it will give you a lot of time to reflect and meditate on the modification.

I think its important to do what you think is right for yourself but also to be aware that there is no rush.  If, for career reasons, you need to put it off then the possibility of getting a tongue split in the future will still exist.  Sometimes, in waiting, what would have all ready been a meaningful modification can become even more meaningful.
