There's been a couple of topics discussing a group fast, so i thought i'd make a new one for clarity.

The 31st of August 2012 is a full moon, which just happens to be the second in August, thus making it a 'Blue Moon'. It is a time when lunar energy is at it's height. There's some good info on this  thread about the cycles of the moon, and the Blue Moon.

So here's the plan….

We’ll begin fasting at moon set on the 31st (wherever you are, or what time that is for you), so practically when you get up on the 31st. We’ll fast until the full moon sets, so practically that’ll be getting up on the 1st.

You can have any goal you fancy, but i think the theme should be bringing positive energy into your life (or an area of it). It might also be nice to spend the time to consider the CoBM and it’s role in your life, as well as others sharing your fast.

Fasting can involve restricting yourself to certain foods (eg fruit, nuts and veg), or simply fluid, maybe green tea or just water. Please consider your health while doing this, if you have a medical condition which may be impacted ensure you decide on a regime which is safe. Take special care if you have never fasted before. Perhaps have foods which you can have without fully breaking your fast should you feel unwell. Make sure you take plenty of fluid whatever you decide.

An additional part should you desire, is to place a piece of clean jewellery / body jewellery in a prepared open container, such as a bowl or box with the lid off, at moonrise on the 31st or that evening some-when. Leave that somewhere clean, but where it will be hit by the light of the moon (a window sill maybe?). At moon set or the next morning, clean this and wear the jewellery, welcoming the light of the moon into you. Make sure this is a healed mod if body jewellery, and hygine of course is always important.

Remember to think about each stage of this, how you chose to prepare it and what each part means to you.

I hope people feel comfortable with this. I look forward to joining you!

Any comments or questions please post them here!

I read through a few sites, and this one seems clear and honest.

I've been invited to a blue moon drum circle/ bond fire.  That's where I'll be… fasting with all you cats.  Playing and dancing my heart out.

If anyone in the southeast somewhat near the Atlanta area wants to know about it, let me know.

It's going to be awesome. I also have a meet with my suspension team on the 1st, so hopefully all that positive energy does some good for my team as well.

Most likely I will be sitting at home working on art projects.Laugh

Hopefully this will give me some inspiration! Perhaps I'll set my pens to moonbathe with my jewelry

I guess that due to my time zone i might be the first to have started. As i was up very early i had a healthy meal prior to moon set, especially as i'm healing right now.

I'm feeling good and looking forward to the experience, as well as sharing it with you lovely people!

It's about noon here and I'm not hungry yet.  It usually takes more than one day for me to feel what I consider really hungry.  I fast pretty often to keep my enzymes healthy.  However, I still have to feed other people around me and putting the food under my nose makes me strengthen my impulse control.  The only food that I have felt really tempted by thus far are the apples.  Mean old tempting juicy delicious apples…. I swear I can smell them across the room!!!

Well, my day wasn't at all what I expected.  I had to work, so I wasn't comfortable fasting.  I am currently in training to drive a mining haul truck.  These things are so huge, and the mining environment in general is so dangerous I didn't want to face any distractions or have any lack of concentration during my training.

If you've never seen one of these things, here's what I'm talking about.haul-truck.jpg

As you can see, these trucks are no joke.  I must have seen these trucks in pictures or on television a hundred times, but standing next to them really makes an impression on you.  I'm 6'4", and the center of the wheel is right up at my eye level.  Sort of intimidating, no?

So anyway, I didn't participate in the fast.  However, I did set some new plugs out in the moonlight to bathe.  These new plugs were 1/32" larger than the last set so I can gauge up.  When I got home I put them in and found that they slipped in just as easily as the last set I had been wearing for over a month.

Previously a jump of 1/32" was a tight fit, but these just popped right in with no resistance.  I was astonished, so I tried the next larger set and they went in with only a little resistance.  At the moment I am wearing this next larger set, making a jump of 1/16" from the set I had been wearing (double the previous jumps I've made), but I didn't bathe these at all.

So, no fast, and I'm not even wearing the jewelry I set out to bathe.  All in all, the ritual was a bust for me.  Sort of a bummer, but it was a good day nonetheless, and I'm happy to have taken a larger jump in size this time.

I hope others have better stories to tell.

My fast went well.  Years ago I would fast one day per week, but I had to stop for several years, and I feel like I am going back to that.  I drank homemade kombucha scooped straight off "the mother" and felt a cleansing and purging.   I laughed and cried in the moonlight.  I thought of the connection between all of us and listened to the silence.

Thanks for sharing.

The picture of that machine and the image of you beside it brought a smile to my face.  I'm so glad this is working out for you!!!!

Well, my ritual did not go as expected either.

I had a plan to go out and moonbathe, but the hurricane has moved inland and it has been raining for two days. So, no moon. Which means the jewelry and drawing pens I set out to moonbathe didn't get it either. Boo.

The fast went as planned until about 9 pm, when my blood sugar decided to go haywire. I couldn't stop shaking and was feeling faint when I decided to eat an apple. It made me feel a bit better.

Up until then, I was drinking plenty of water and warm tea to settle the stomach and I was fine.

All in all, it went alright, but not as I'd planned. I'm so glad I had the rest of you to think about the whole time. It kept me strong until my body told me absolutely no. We should do this again, sometime.

I put out 5 pairs of plugs.  I am tiny (at only 1 inch Wink) but I also put out one pair of glass I have never worn which are bigger.  They were given to me by someone special many moons ago.  His ears are at 2 inch so he figured he wouldn't need them again and had been waiting to pass them along.

Wouldn't it be fun to circumnavigate the whole globe with people doing a planned body modification ritual!?!?  A friend of mine did a group tattoo which was some sort of literature where each person got a different word tattooed on them.  I'll ask her about it.

I have only ever stretched my septum as large as a 6 and that gave me a fucking headache for days!!  I wear nothing in it now on a daily basis and still slip a 10 in.  I like 0 on men because it's big enough to put a pencil through to freak people out!!  Classic!

I think a group tattoo would be amazing!

I don't know about any of you, but I have a few tattoos that were made out of bets. Being part of a ritual would mean so much more. I, personally, am not ready for my church bars yet.

Som,

That's actually not me next to the truck.  That's just a picture I found on the net somewhere and posted so you could get an idea of what I'm talking about.

Kristen,

Bummer about your fast and moonbathing, but I'm glad you're okay.  It was much wiser to break the fast a bit.

Strommer and Som,

Glad you had a great experience.  I agree that we should do it again.  There was a group fast a few years ago I participated in and it was good for me.

Thanks for sharing your experiences guys. I felt like i was with you all during the fast.

Mine took a turn when i was prescribed antibiotics which i have to eat solids with!

Having said that it made me focus very much on not only what i consumed, but the original point of the fast, the CoBM, those i was sharing this world with and my goal of healing.

I bathed some labradorite plugs, and hope the energy will help me heal.

We should do it again somewhen!

Some Kiss We Want

There is some kiss we want
with our whole lives,
the touch of Spirit on the body.

Seawater begs the pearl
to break its shell.

And the lily, how passionately
it needs some wild Darling!

At night, I open the window
and ask the moon to come
and press its face into mine.
Breathe into me.

Close the language-door,
and open the love-window.

The moon won't use the door,
only the window.

-Rumi

A Rumi poem for my fellow blue moon fast ritual peeps.  Keep your focus!!  I feel like the positive vibes are helping all of us.

Normally I'm a man of many words, but I've only got a few for that.

That's awesome.  Thank you.
