I just confirmed the booking of my 5th suspension and I'm pretty stoked.  It'll be a 2 pt chest suspension and will be a first for me in a number of different ways.  First, its going to be outdoors and I've only ever had indoor suspensions previously.  Second, its the first time I've had anything other than 4 hooks.  Third, its the first time I'll be going up by my chest.

Anyone else have any suspension experiences they'd like to share?

Exciting to have it scheduled at least.  Sorry to hear about the medical issues, hopefully they clear up soon so you can hang :)

Its hard to exactly describe the experience of suspending because I haven't really experienced anything comparable.  Of course you'll get the expected pain when the hooks go in and, in my experience, when you are starting to hoist yourself up or be hoisted up, depending on how you do it.  After that adrenaline pretty much kicks in and I experienced more of a pressure feeling than one of actual pain.

For me, fun is the best word to describe the experience of suspending.  I absolutely love to spin and swing, its like being a child again doing something just for the sheer joy of doing it.  For me its about overcoming the initial pain and transforming that into something wonderful and amazing.  I'm not really sure if I have the words for it other than that and I'm not sure those words really do the experience justice.

Of course, everyone's experiences might be a little bit different, these are only mine.  Afterwards I've found the piercing marks to be a bit tender for the next few days, but nothing major and they've always healed very nicely.  I scar super easily so I've been left with small scars, especially from my knee suspension, although those are only about 6 months old so they may fade more later.  I personally like having scars so I don't mind at all.

Thanks for sharing.

I've not suspended myself, but am currently working with a group of chaps to get a team together. Things seem to be moving at the moment so i'm very excited!

Not a problem.  Goodluck Oakbear.  I hope you get to go up soon.  As I said, its an amazing experience and I recommend it to anyone who happens to have an interest.

Successfully completed my chest suspension yesterday.  As always, it was an amazing expe3rience.  I was only up for a minute as it was my most intense suspension yet.  The chest is definately a much more sensitive area than either the back or the knees, at least in my limited experience.  I definately plan on doing another chest suspension in the future and this time hopefully I'll be able to stay up longer.

I'm thinking of doing suspension number 6 around Christmas as a sort of Christmas present to myself.  Actually, the holiday of Christmas doesn't really factor into it since I don't really celebrate it at all but by then it'll be about 3 months or so since my last one and that seems like a good period of time to wait between suspensions.  Funds permitting, I'm thinking I'm going to start going up more regularly going forward, maybe a few times a year.  Its something I love doing and the experience really is like no other.

Any suggestions on what might be interesting for a 6th suspension?  So far I have experience going up by my back, including a spinning beam with another person, my knees and my chest.  I may do another knee suspsension next, this time with 2 hooks instead of 4 or possibly a lotus.

What sorts of experiences have others had in the realm of suspension?

I bet a coma suspension would be pretty intense.  Its definately on my list of ones to do.  Actually that's probably not saying much since I have many suspensions on my list of ones to do.  There's just nothing else like it and I guess you could say I'm hooked on suspending lol

My first time up will be a six point angel to be a true symbol of my rebirth from all of the negative I'm leaving behind in this world.

A good friend told me. Never expect anything when going up your first time, just be able and ready and sure you're ready to meet and face your deamons. If you can do this you can do anything in life.

I'm excited for you mage, and thank you for sharing.

I'm excited for you too Phoenix.  I hope you enjoy your first experience.  I think you're friend gave you good advice as far as that's concerned.  I remember it being a challenge the first time I was going up.  I was pretty nervous that the pain would be too much and I wouldn't be able to make it off the ground.  It felt like it took forever for me to get off the ground, although I was later told that I didn't take all that long, I think maybe 15 minutes or so.  It was just such a new experience that I had nothing at all to base it off of.  Once I was off the ground, however, it was absolutely amazing.  Just that first initial feeling of your feel leaving the earth below you and knowing that you've accomplished something.

In a way I miss that feeling of the great unknown that only truly exists the first time going up.  Now I'm able to pull myself up much faster (the first time I got my artist to pull me up rather than doing it myself) and don't get me wrong, I still love to do it, but no time will ever be like your first time I think.

I definitely want to go up within the next year. The only problem I'm having is finding a place close by. I live in North Carolina and I haven't been able to find anyone that specializes or knows anything about suspension. Frown

Joseph, where in NC are you located? I lived in Raleigh not long ago. One of the CoBM ministers, Richard Ivey, is currently in Raleigh and can either assist you or suggest someone who can. Shoot him an email and I'm sure he'd be happy to speak with you.

I live right between Statesville & Salisburty. I might be able to go to Raleigh for that. Thanks!

I found the suspension team that put me up through http://www.suspension.org, you can try looking on their locator as well. But definitetly shoot the minister an email as well.

My first suspension was April 17 of this year and amazing is the only way I can describe it. It was a 6 point angel suspension performed by iHung and Only Flesh out of Columbus, Ohio. For me there was absolutely no pain throughout the entire experience. When I was up nothing else mattered, my mind was completely blank and stress free for the first time in a VERY long time. Coming down was just as surprising, for a period of roughly 15 minutes it seemed like all of my senses were "super charged".

I am currently planning another suspension with the Abhaya Suspension team out of Charleston, WV. I would like to do a knee suspension since they used to freak me out to watch, conquer a fear type deal. Whats really cool is I have 4 or 5 of my Fraternity Brothers who want to suspend too, it will be the first time for all of them. I cant wait.
