Suggestions on how to deal with new bans... | General Discussion | Forum
I currently live in Arkansas, where as you can see on the last line in this link that "earlier this week, the Senate passed, 26-4, SB 387, also sponsored by Irvin, which would ban body art procedures where the skin is intentionally scarred or objects are inserted under the skin." Making scarification and subdermals of all kinds illegal procedures. Does anyone have an experience with fighting to overturn laws like these, or have any suggestions how to go about it? It's seems a bit discriminatory that you can brand people, but they want to make any other form of scarification illegal.

I spent only a couple minutes trying to find the actual Senate bill so I could read the exact wording but could not find it. The bill did pass the Senate and is heading to the House, I believe is what I read.
As far as how to go about fighting the bill in some way, I would contact the APP and ask them. Though this specific bill might not be up their alley, one of the APP's main jobs is to get involved in body modification legislation. I would use their main contact form, http://www.safepiercing.org/contact/, which would be forwarded to the appropriate person.

As far as I know, Misty Forsberg was the forefront of fighting this legislation. And last I heard it was going through the way she wanted it to, basically to take the hacks out of their kitchens and turn it into a legal sect of modification.
I know you can find her on facebook, and I believe you can email her at firstname.lastname@example.org. Don't quote me on that email, though.
