Last year, about this time I was researching for my Junior Paper and I finished it.

This year, I am fixing to have to start on my Senior Project… and since it is on Body Modification and how it can be associated with religion, I figured I should ask here for some ideas for my senior project. Everything that i seem to come up with isn't "School Appropriate" with my conservative school.
Which one of them involved trying to witness, or be involved in a religious body suspension. But i was denied my ideas.

Thank you, everyone in advance for any ideas.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week! :D

Is there any angle or subject you want to weave into this, for example anthropology, psychology, sociology etc? Might help narrow a topic.

I also love to read it if it's a paper when you're finished!

I haven't really thought of anything that I want to weave into it… I guess anything would be okay.. Sociology is something else that i am moderately interested in..

I have a paper I did for my Junior paper! I could send it to you whenever I get another copy it. :D

So sociology ideas then…. Class and body modification, how do they relate, is body modification a subculture, body modification as social deviance, gender roles in body modification, media portrayal of modified people. Any tickle your fancy?

I don't know if I would be able to do any of that though, cause I would need to get an In-State mentor who would help me do a final project.

I will ask my english teacher about them tomorrow morning, because i wanna see if me doing an apprenticeship at a tattoo parlor would be "appropriate" for me to do a senior project on.

Kaytemew, I will ask my english teacher to email it to me & I will send it to you on here as soon as i get it.

I'm also working on one for my senior project, if you'd like to read it. It's probably pretty boring and stuff you already know though, cuz I'm having to get it to 8 pages and i'm just starting to fill it with citations of history/information. i'm doing mine on the potential mental/spiritual health benefits of body modification.

I wish everyone luck on any papers that they may write. :)

I didn't want to hijack this thread to discuss too much about my family so I will post it elsewhere, but I wanted to say that I would happily share my entire family's story if anyone desires some input from a family of 4 that are all active in body modification to varied degrees.

I have read some books that touch on the sociology aspects of body mod.  Mostly tattooing since it has become so mainstream from silly "reality" TV shows. Some good books: Bodies of Subversion. This book has a great history of tattooing of and by women throughout history, you should try it out. Also: In the Flesh, the cultural politics of Body Modification by Victoria Pitts.  There are many books out there now, but I really enjoyed these 2.  In the Flesh would probably be a great resource for any paper on Body Modification's history and culture.

Good luck to you and I would love to read the papers that have been and will be written.

Now I write essay on topic "Body modification in todays society" I use this source it very helpful for me https://essmart.org/psychology-research-paper/
It's one of qoute "Body piercing is believed to be a self-imposed rite of passage. By this I mean that people, in general, feel an instinctive drive to undergo some sort of a rite of passage. If society denies them this, they may create one for themselves in order to feel as though they have a place in society. Almost everyone has been tempted to get a tattoo or piercing, but did you ever ask your self why you wanted one? This theory tries to explain that it is natural and instinctive and possibly even necessary in order to find your place in society.'
