Safe Body Art Act | General Discussion | Forum
February 3, 2008
The Safe Body Art Act was signed into law by the California Governor. Its purpose is to set safety and regulation requirements for various types of body modification studios. Check it out and share your thoughts!
Do you see laws such as this as a benefit to the community (both the modified community and local community as a whole) or do you see it as something else entirely?

I'm generally a big fan of considered regulation in the modification industry. There is as much, if not more, bad practice out there than good. The general public often don't seem able to discriminate, and those with bad practice have no incentive to change.
I don't know the context of this particular legislation, but on quickly reading through it looks ok. It'd be nice to see guns and use in no piercing studios banned or better regulated, but maybe that's asking a bit much for those not in the know. I also wonder why annual inspections have been cancelled, and do wonder if this will allow people to pay lip service to the regulations?
