Purple lobes.. | General Discussion | Forum
April 17, 2013
Hey everybody. I'm looking for some insight on taking care of stretched ears. My lobes are stretched to 1-3/8, with 1-1/4 plugs currently in. Occasionally they have a slightly purple appearance. Today I was told that they looked purple, and when I felt them they were almost cold to the touch, even though it's rather warm out. I don't think my plugs are constricting any blood flow, since I have at least a couple millimeters of space in between. My ears aren't blown out or ripped. They've been healed for a long time now. I'm just worried about my ears rotting off, I've even downsized and it persists. Does any one have any advice, or any idea what's causing this? Any help is appreciated
Hi TheHumanRaze, welcome to the forum.
I think everyone with fairly large lobes gets this from time to time, especially if it's cold. It's only really a problem (without other symptoms) if it happens all the time, or at least for long periods regularly, in which case i'd recommend down sizing and leaving plugs out for a good while.
I just remove jewelry and give them a quick massage until they are warm again. If i'm somewhere i can leave out the plugs i do that, otherwise i pop them back in and remember to check them a bit later. Never had any problems doing that. I maybe notice this happen once a month or so.
Generally, daily massages and leaving jewelry out over night are good practices which should minimise that too.
