I always feel happy and excited.  It's sort of the feeling some people get before going on a really awesome roller coaster.  The butterflies in the tummy and the giddy excitement.

I'm excited for you and hope that you post pics after they've been implanted and healed a bit.

I would be just as stoked to have work done by S. Haworth.  Who wouldn't?

Good luck and bright blessings!!

That is awesome lord-wraith.  How many are you getting put in?  Are you doing just one arm or both?  I have five of those in my right arm which I got about 5 months ago now.  Getting them implanted was certainly an excercise in endurance, but they healed amazing and were completely worth it.  I'm sure we would all love to see pics when they're finished.

Between financial shortfalls and a falling out with my former best friend/piercer it's been several years since I was able to be modified.  I have several small tattoos I'd like to get done, but random events and people have been working against me for several years now.

Nonetheless, I still remember what it's like to be only hours away from receiving a new modification.  I would characterize it in much the same way as Lord Wraith has above.  A little kid just before Christmas.

Also, I look forward to the chance to meditate while experiencing pain.  There are other ways to go about meditating, and modification is not required if one wants to experience pain.  Simply standing under a tall waterfall will do.  Nonetheless, being modified is unique for me because it also involves a sense that I am evolving; becoming more than I was.  Or perhaps I'm simply becoming more self-aware than I was.

Either way, I always look forward to the process, but I do my best to stay calm, not just during, but in the hours and days leading up to a modification.  I believe learning to controlling one's own emotional state is a critical part of personal evolution, and a lesson most easily learned when all your biological instincts are telling you to put a stop to the pain.

Sometimes I wonder if I can say anything in less than a hundred words.

I love the buildup to getting a new modification.  There is a very special mindset involved, something not quite comparable to anything else that I've ever experienced.  There's the anticipation of something new and shiny, but for me at least it goes far beyond that as well.  I see my physical modifications as a reflection of my mental and spiritual growth, so there's always that underlying understanding that this is a tribute to the fact that I continue to grow and develop as an individual.

In the days leading up to gaining a new modification, especially a pivotal one in my own personal self-transformation, there is a sort of peace involved.  During the modification itself, I try to amplify that sense of peace, going into an almost meditative state.  I don't block out the pain or revel in it, but rather simply accept it as part of the process because no transformation is without pain or effort.

well, don't you all just sound perfectly supirior :p

just kidding. i feel stupid now, but as it is for me self evloving…i also don't think i for myself should cancel out the excitement or ignore it. it is rather admorable that you can and try to contain yourself such in ways for your transformation….but what isn't there to be super stoked about? when i go into the shop i am like…"lets do this!" the excitement is all a part of it for me. not much in this world excites me. in fact…most things bore me til my brain cells are screaming in agony and beating one another. while going through it, is when i start my evolution process, but i can't just contain it before because i live for the excitement and rush of it, i guess.

each is to thier own. i admire everyones own reason and sentiment in it. it should be unique for everyone.

Don't get me wrong, I feel plenty of excitement as well.  I absolutely love getting myself a new shiny!  The excitement, however, is almost placed in the background and I tend to concentrate on other things.  Except, I will say, when it comes to suspension.  There are few things that make me feel so childlike and purely joyful as being able to hang from hooks.  I can't even describe the experience because words do not do it justice.  To simply be free for a while to hang and spin and block out the entire world around me.  Its just…amazing.

I feel a sense of serenity and focus. I don't get the excitement so much anymore as I did when I was younger, before the spiritual side of things started to take over. I feel determination, the same sense I feel before a magical ritual I might be performing. You know, that emotion that you'd really believe was behind the best poker face imaginable? My girlfriend thinks I'm crazy because she usually goes first when we book our dual appointments because she's constantly asking if I'm nervous and can tell I'm not.

I'm not sure what it is that made me this way, but my tattoo artists believes I'm a robot. Hey, who knows?

Sounds like quite the experience lord-wraith.  Glad to hear it went well and I admit, makes me want to get my other arm done even more now.  I'm sure you'll love suspending, for me there's nothing comparable.
