I did a quick search and nothing popped up, so I sincerely hope this isnt a repeat thread.

I would like to know a few things.

1) What are the males views on males practicing corseting? Why?

2) What are the females views on males practicing corseting? Why?

**If you cant tell, I am trying to relate this back to my "Assigning Gender Roles to Body Modifications"**

3) What is your personal experience with corseting?

4) How is the best way to get measured properly and order the correct corsets? Any suggested online shops?
5) Any useful information you may have

After reading some interviews with Fakir, I am interested in corseting and the practice of bearing the ibaturi to become an ibitoe. With that being said, does anyone know where I can get arm bands made to constrict? (Similar to the ones he is wearing in the pic of the sundance http://www.seesomethingstrange…..odern.html)

That would be amazing if you could ask her about some resource information. I assume that I could go to any dress shop to get measured properly?

I can see how this may be used by someone with a gender specific aim, in particular exploring something female, as it can mimic or extenuate the female silhouette. but i don't think it has to.

It never really appealed personally, but i have quite a bit which would need corsetting!

I've know a few people who make corsets, and they're very talented folk. Find someone you like and have a browse at their portfolio.

Many are used to the fetish scene, so are pretty open minded. They're the best placed to advise you about measurement etc.

As for the arm bands, they look like could be home made, and are basically a small wide belt. I belt there's leather workers out there could sort that easily enough. In fact fetish sites often have cuffs like that ready made. They might be made for wrists or ankles, but i'm sure you could find something.

I suggest you go to your local fetish shop and get measured and even try some on.  Is that an option for you?  Do you know of a shop, or would you like me to ask some people in the scene?  I have been involved with fetish for many years and I can ask if anyone knows of a good shop.  Also, being a woman, I will share my opinions about male corseting… (since you asked)  I have mostly seen men and women match or coordinate corseting if men do it at all.  I would say it is not as common for men as women, and seen more on submissive males.  I do like it on men, but I am super pro body exploration about everything.  I do not find it sexually attractive for men or women… I don't know why.  I have seen it many times on fat women, so maybe I associate it with that.  I have also seen it many times at the Renaissance Festival, so maybe I associate it with that.  I have owned several corsets, and it is great fun to dress up in.  I have never made a ritual of waist restriction on a regular basis, but I do diet and keep a small waist at all times.  I know if I tighten any of my corsets too tight, it makes my back hurt.  Let me know how it goes.

after talking with my gf she says for girls you should take your regular size and subtract 3-6 inches and for boys subtract about 2-4 inches from your waist line for a good fit and from there its all about breathing from your chest instead of your stomach dont tighten it down all the way at first work your way up to it and see what your body can take

I do not think there is any local shops, other than maybe the dress/tuxedo shops. Ive decided to try to lose 30lbs or so before trying to corset, so this will give me some time to save up for a good one. I know there is a leather maker in the flea market so this weekend I will head to him for the arm bands ad potentially thigh bands.
