I have been thinking for about two years now, if I should join the church. But I have a few questions:

I am Wiccan and was needing to know if the church excepts all religions?

Are there any requirements to joining?

Is it wrong to be obess with pain from getting pierced and tattooed?

I know I have more questions but won't be able to think of any until these questions are asked.

Thank you

Wendy

Hi Wendy, it's nice to see someone thinking things through before making a commitment.

As a disclaimer i'm not a minister, but think i can answer your questions.

My understanding is that the Church is very open and accepting, and contains people from a wide range of other faiths and backgrounds, united by shared beliefs in the use of modification as a path to develop spirituality. There are cetainly Wiccans in the Church, and more with a Wiccan background (myself included).

Requirements to join is simply the application form, which asks a few questions about you and your beliefs. Might seem a bit daunting, but really i feel it's to get to know you, make sure you fit into the broad spectrum of beliefs within the church, and create a sense of commitment and credibility.

I'm not sure what you mean about obsess with pain, but there is no specific dogma in the CoBM as to how this is viewed. If you mean you dislike pain, i think most would agree! I have plenty of mods and still have an urge to avoid pain and feel fear prior to to some procedures. Overcoming this is a big part of the reward for me. If you really like pain, fine too, it's the relationship between our body mind and and spiritualty that's important here.

Hope that helps, feel free to ask anything else!

Thank you for answering my questions. Concerning the pain question, yes I love pain.  Sometimes I think I like it too much. I need to do some more thinking about joining before I can make a informed decision.

Thanks again,

Wendy

No problems.

Make sure you read the current mission statement and statement of faith if you haven't yet!Smile

I haven't talked to a whole lot of people here, but it seems like people come here from a variety of spiritual backgrounds but all have spiritual body modification in common.  I'm also of a wiccan background (don't know how to define myself at the moment, but definitely pagan at least).  I'm also a pain junkie, I don't like it (I guess I really do, or like doing things I don't like, hard to explain but you probably can relate :), but overcoming it and my preconceptions has become a major part of my spiritual path.  Welcome and Blessed Be!

Hi Wendy:) I joined the church a while back when the Tribe was still open…which was sort of like a facebook or myspace for members.  I was fairly active on the page trying to update frequently and get to know some ppl.  I found it to be a very accepting place…members were of all backgrounds and age groups and there was nothing frowned upon in the realm of spirituality.  I am not a minister or anything…and since the tribe shut down I admit to being less active.  I vow to change that and hope to be more involved:)  I think it is safe to say the church is really about people uniting on one common ground…body modification…the rest will vary and make things more interesting;)

Hi Wendy,

I will also put forth the disclaimer that I am not a minister… yet. I have submitted my application, however.

Regardless, I have some insight on your pain question.

Masochism can be extremely healthy when dealt with in a healthy fashion. For example, you mentioned that it was pain from piercing and tattooing. This feels like a very healthy outlet for that type of desire for pain, and as long as you are recieving your mods in a sterile, safe environment, I see no reason you should not continue.

There are many forms of masochism, physical, mental, emotional, spiritual… and there are many ways to indulge them as well.

Has this brought up any further questions?

Keep the faith.
