As the title asks, how did you first hear about the CoBM? Was it a news report, a friend, or maybe a random search on Google?
I first heard about the CoBM about 8 years ago in a local newspaper. On the very last page, in a section titled News of the Weird, I read about Kimberly Cloutier and her membership in something called the Church of Body Modification. There was a website, which I eagerly went to, and I read everything I could. After a week or so of contemplation, I submitted my own membership app and was accepted. In retrospect I wish I had saved that news clipping. At the time, however, it would have been impossible to know where that little blurb would lead me.

A Google search lead me to the Church in 2002. I thought it was the greatest idea in the whole world. I immediately contacted the staff and wanted to know how I could help and what it would take to become a minister. At the time, I honestly don't think I was ready. Nearly six years later, in 2008, I found myself part of the new administration. As Chris said, I don't think it's something I could have foreseen at the time.

I had been in search of a group of ppl like me . Only in a large scale form. Like many others I googled many diff. titles and the church showed its head. I found it very interesting and wanted to be a part of it right away. Since then I have found my tribe and couldn;t be more happy about the contacts and freinds I have made. thanks to all that make this possible.

I think I first heard about the church in 2002.  My mother had read somthing on the church and sent me in search off them.  I found it be quit fulfilling to find a group of like minded people.

I have been through a couple changes in presidents sites changing hands but I am very glad to see the church keep moving forward.

I first heard of CoBM on Livejournal many years ago, when I still used Livejournal.  I believe it was in the form of some kind of debate on the validity of CoBM's status as a church.  Not being one to participate in flame wars, I filed the information in the back of my mind, promising to formulate my own opinion at a later time.  Several years later, upon becoming frustrated with my quest for some kind of organized spiritual outlet that would allow me to feel comfortable and participatory without having to apologize for my appearance, I rediscovered CoBM.  So, here I am, being participatory.  :D

I heard about CoBM from a friend of mine. I was very surprised and excited to find out that there was a group of people that shared some of my beliefs. :)

I was talking to Jason Morningstar one day, before he was a minister. He's been piercing me for about 8 years and we were having a conversation about something… I don't really remember. But he mentioned the church, and I looked it up a few days later. After thinking about it for several months, I finally decided to apply.

I was reading a news article about a girl (in North or South Carolina, I believe) who was a member of the Church and expelled from school for having her nose pierced. Once I read it, I did all the research I could and debated on applying for several months. I applied in early January of this year and I am an official member as of today! Laugh

I stumbled upon it because of a few youtube videos. I was thrilled and surprised to find there was a place for people like me, so I only ended up debating for a few days on weather or not to apply.

I honestly can't remember, I believe it was through Russ Foxx, but I'm not 100% certain. If anyone remembers my early questions, please let me know :)

I've simply felt so at home here that it feels like I've always been here, and it no longer matters to me how I got here.

I heard about it originally when the girl from one of the Carolina states was suspended from school. I never actually looked into it until i got sick of the christian religion.

The woes and sorrow that this world causes isn't worth the pain of living, of suffering through. The torture, oh the torture, this hell lives within me. The voices of the demons are the forces that torture me.

I heard about this website from someone on another body mod forum that said they had applied for membership to the Church.  I have joined the forum first to have a read of what is said here and I am thinking seriously about becoming a Church member.

I came across the CoBM a long time ago and as soon as I saw it I had decided I wanted to join and eventually become a rev. I accomplished that first part. I'm a piercer and I was googling the random fun stuff that is related to it and litterally just stumbled upon it. I'm lucky I did so. I've made some good friends here.

I was thinking there ought to be a Church of Body Mod, and it occured to me that (like many other ideas) there probably already was one. The first thing I googled was: "Church of Body Modification", and poof! I applied right away.
