But I don't think it's so.

Today Lady Gaga debuted her newest single, "Born This Way", and I noticed while watching it(I'm a big fan of hers, and have the utmost respect for her) that she has what looks like subdermal implants on her face and shoulders.

It's not the first time I noticed it, and so my initial reaction of "theater makeup" seemed wrong.

I went searching, and came upon this blog entry about it, where there's an amazing banter discussion happening in the comments about Modding and acceptance.

There's the link, if anyone else would like to chime in, the church hasn't been brought up yet, and before I make a comment, I'd like to know if anyone thinks I /shouldn't/ mention it.

My girlfriend is a fan of hers and when we watched Lady Gaga's performance on the Grammys, I noticed her makeup/fake implants. I'm not sure I have much of an opinion on them. Assuming they are fake, I don't find them offensive. One can only guess what her intention is in wearing them but I looked up the lyrics of the song "Born This Way" and the makeup does seem to fit in with the message of the song.

As far as the link you posted, the person who wrote that post seems a bit small-minded. I didn't read many of the comments but, of the ones I did read, they seemed to be quite a few people defending Lady Gaga and the modified community in general. If you do end up leaving a comment on that site, leave a link to your comment here so we can follow it and see what transpires.

i think the bigger message of all her music is to be comfortable with who you are. whether thats being all made up in make up or having mods. born this way can have different meanings.. like i feel like this is the way i was suppose to be from time of birth.. i know that my mods make me feel more of myself.. thats just my take on it though.

i think the message of her music and this song in general is to be comfortable with who you are. whether you feel like more of yourself being made up in make-up or body mods. i know my mods are the way i feel like im suppose to be.

I just wanted to say that if they were real, one of us would at least know the person that did them. haha.

I  just saw this on Twitter, posted by Lady Gaga:

The point, with "Born This Way," is to fight for something that not everyone believes in. To overcome adversity with a message.

So there it is, in 140 characters or less. I haven't come across anything substantial concerning her faux implants though.

I don't think they are meant to look like subdermal implants. She has used makeup to change the shape of her cheekbones many many times, and it just happened to extend itself to her forhead and shoulders for this video. The most likely situation is that they aren't inspired by subdermal implants. They're inspired by a desire to change the appearance of her physicality….. nothing more.

It's deffinitely an interesting thing to note. I can't imagine how many people are going to get implants because of Gaga (?).

It's really wonderful what she does, though I do think she, or whomever writes her lyrics need some classes. She deffinitely brings to the general public a lot of things that they would have never known, or understood.

As with what Chris said, the woman who posted the article is an incredibly close minded person. But many, if not over a third of all the comments are in deffense of modifiers, and many point out that everyone modifies. This we know, but "outsiders" do not.

One can only hope that one day, one won't have to fight so hard for their modifications.
