So Fakir Musafar suggested the following 7 categories of body play (modification).

1) Body play by contortion (bending bones)
gymnastics, yoga, enlargement of piercings, cupping, high heels shoes, foot binding etc

2) Body play by constriction (compression)
Bondage, tight belts, corsets, tight clothing, rubber etc

3) Body play by deprivation
Fasting, sleep deprivation, fatigue, restriction of movement, sense isolation, body suits

4) Body play by encumberment

Heavy bracelets, neck ornamentation, menacles, encasements, chains etc

5) Body play by fire

sun tanning, electricity, steam baths, branding and burning

6) Body play by penetration
being pierced, puntured, spiked or skewered, tattooing, bed of nails, bed of swords, chemical agents etc

7) Body play by suspension

hung on a cross, suspended by wrists/thighs/waist/ankles or flesh hooks, suspended by multiple piercings

What is your opinion on these? What categories do you think the more “modern*” modifications such as ear cropping/shaping, flesh removal scarifications, genital beading, subdermal implants, magnetic implants, tongue splitting, etc would fall into? Should there be an 8th or 9th category and if so what and why?

*Note: I know that most of these mods have been around somewhere for sometime, I am simply implying that these are starting to be seen more prevalently.

i think that the more techniques that people come up with the better and to write a list and not be open to adding new things to it would be very close minded i hope that there will be hundreds of new things added to this list and i hope im around to participate in them sf smile Forum

I agree that there at least needs to be a couple more categories

* Body play by cutting

Scarification would fall at least partially in this area

    Nullification / Amputation

    Tongue Splitting

* Body play by implantation

     Self explanatory

I am sure I missed others … but this should get us started

Im not saying that this should be it. This is what Fakir suggested quite some years ago. Since then there has been some wonderful advancements in the body mod community. Im curious to see if anyone thinks that there is a mod that doesnt fit into any of these 7 categories. Im not saying that the mods listed are the end all be all, theyre just examples of things that could fall into that category.

I agree that cutting/flesh removal is sort of in it’s own category, but I think implantation might be covered in “Body play by penetration”, which already includes piercing.  The only difference being that the object you leave behind is sometimes completely beneath the skin.

Sometimes I wonder if I can say anything in less than a hundred words.

I think a removal category should exist. Amputations, nullifications, nipple removal, navel removals, flesh removal scarifications, etc.

I agree with Corey there.

So that’s already two new categories so far: Cutting and Removal.  And who knows what else this thread will produce.

Somebody’s gonna have to contact Fakir.

i can imagine a few but cutting would be the cleanest form you could burn a limb off ,tear it off, freeze it til it falls off but cutting would be the best way to go about itsf smile Forum

My artist was actually trying to talk me into letting him split my tongue with an ESU machine

Yep, electrosurgical unit. It heats up to something ridiculous and cauterizes the skin instantly to prevent bleeding. He is going to start using it to do scarifications as oppose to scalpels

I don’t have much else to add, but loving the topic.

My tongue was split with an electrocautery ESU unit. They can be set for cut, cauterise or both.

I’ve not seen scarification done the way. I assume that’s not skin removal scarification, but simply line work?

I suggest body play by psychology.

I had a great experience once when a friend used some rope bondage techniques from Midori’s Seductive Art of Japanese Bondage and then simply told me about all the other things that could happen.  The Bondage book stuff was easy, fun and beautiful (check it out if you don’t know the book) but the mind play really made the experience memorable and very intimate without touching.  I wonder which categories, if any, women are more into than men.
