I totally understand and relate to the spontaneity of love and desire for devotion. She is certainly brave to physically surrender in such a bold way!! Although on the surface the motivation seems to be for a relationship with another person or the right to earn knowledge about how to be a tattooist, she will be face to face with her personal relationship to self in a way many of us don't fully deal with. Our brothers and sisters who walk the path of life with overtly visible body mods get a huge amount of pressure and stress (and bullshit) from EVERY part of society. I hope the the positive aspects and rewards are as equally, if not MORE, for her and all the others who make this choice. I send love and support and hope and strength and a good dose of humor to all who choose to look REALLY different than most others.

Everyone has something to say about the Mona Lisa until you're standing in front of it speechless.

I think face tattoos can be great, as long as you know you really want to get one. It's not the tat to get when you are drunk. I actually know someone who works for a TV show who's looking for someone to get a face tattoo on TV. I would do it, but I haven't decided on anything. If anyone is interested, let me know and I can forward your info along – at least to find out more details. I think it's free too.

Hi rschwartz, welcome to the forum. Where is the TV show based?

Hi Oakbear, thanks for the greetings. I'll have to check with my friend. But I can let you know later today.

I have my chin done. Was inspired by Dez of Devildriver and I spent like 2 years coming up with a design that was A: symmetrical, B: looked good, C: actually had personal meaning to it (it was a loooong two years). Took it to my guy (I popped his face tattoo cherry), went through the initial session and two touch ups, and I love it. It is a tribal, but it has a combination of runic symbols (big fan of Asatru), my astrological symbol (Aries, made it look like an axe as opposed to the cock-n-ball look it normally has (cus the last thing I need is a cock-n-ball on my face), and what I can best describe as shark curvatures (I love sharks, especially the great white). Having a face tattoo is one hell of a commitment though. Even my own wife (not anymore) at the time said "wtf did you do" when I came home (told her I was doing it, didn't take me seriously apparently). Had a lot of trouble at work, and then when I lost that job, I spent a good year unemployed trying to find a place to hire me with my ink (was at the previous job for 3 years, but was in an auto accident and lost my license and my ability to commute. Thank you Safe Auto). Now I am at a place that's cool with my tattoos. I remember I applied at a sandwich shop and they told me "if we hire you, you will have to wear a blue band-aid over your tattoo". I looked at her for a second and replied "don't you think that would attract just as much attention?" Biggest issue I have had with the face tattoo is I get a lot of people asking me (cus of the runes) "did you get that inside?" or "is that aryan?" (no to both). However, for every jerk that makes a snide comment, you get another 5 people who think it's the coolest thing they've ever seen. Also (just a heads up), be prepared for the question you will hear EVERY DAY FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE:
"Did that hurt?"
That all being said, I love this tattoo, and I would never have it removed for anything. Have another one planned (one for the whole left side of my face to connect to the chin piece), but I'm gonna wait a while on that one.

I am well aware of the commitment I will be getting into with my facial tattoo but its one I'm more than prepared to take at this point in my life. Thank you for the feedback of your experience. I have my first session on Monday. I'll be getting the side of my neck done on the first session and the actual facial work done on my second session, which will probably be about a month after the first. I am so ridiculously excited to be getting this officially started.

I don't have the facial portion of my tattoo done yet, but I did go and get the focal point of the neck portion on my right hand side last night. It was one of the easiest tattoos I've ever sat through and, although its not quite finished yet, the result so far is gorgeous. Best of all, I finally have my church bars set in the center of a spiral! I hope to have access to my camera tonight to post pictures, otherwise I'll try and figure out how to post them from the camera on my phone.

For me, it's a big no! I cared a lot for my face, putting creams and cleanser. I hope she will not regret! How about taking care of your figure? Do you love soda? New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg says he will appeal a New York judge's choice to overturn the town's ban on sugary beverages served in cups larger than 16 ounces. The ban was intended to have gone into impact on Tues, March 12, but it was overturned right before. Wink

I struggling to make the link between facial tattoos and sugary drinks here!

April 15tg is the official day for the first half of my facial tattoos. No pictures until the right half of the finished product is done. I can't wait to show them off.

As for the young lady who let her boyfriend tattoo her face, I don't really like the look of the tattoo. Also, I've long believed that getting the name of a lover tattooed anywhere on your body is a jinx on the relationship.

However, I am looking forward to seeing pictures of everyone's facial tattoos. Best of luck and good healing to all of you.

Sometimes I wonder if I can say anything in less than a hundred words.

I admit, I don't think I've ever been this excited about getting a tattoo done. There's just something about taking that next step in getting my face done. Although I all ready have facial modification, including subdermal horns and large gauge piercings, getting it tattooed feels like bringing it to the next level. I wouldn't have been ready for this step a year ago but I feel completely ready now.

Thanks Kristen. I am literally counting down the hours now. Work is going extremely slowly due to excitement, but only 2 more hours of work and 3 more hours until I'm under the tattoo needle. There are a little bit of nerves there as well but mostly excitement.
