Does anyone have any experience with this mod?  If so, what is the procedure and healing like?  Is it possible to temporarily hide tattooed eyes via contacts?

This is a mod that the prominent artist in my area has only just started offering.  It is also a mod that I want, possibly, more than any other single mod that I have gotten so far.  Currently I have a job that would be completely fine with me getting this done but my main concern in doing so would be if I should ever lose this job and need to start interviewing for a new one.  Thus, if I am to get this in the near future, the main thing I'm interested in finding out is whether or not it could be temporarily hidden via coloured contacts.

So far, the best information I've come across is a faq written by Shannon Larrat.

I'm curious, who in your area is doing eyeball tattooing?

Russ Foxx.  I know he's been training and learning for some time now and just started actually offering it a couple of weeks ago.

I'm not sure if they can be hidden. All the people I know who have it done aren't really interested in hiding it.

Its not that I'm interested in hiding it.  In my current line of work, it isn't an issue at all and I have every intent of remaining with my current company doing my current job for a long time to come.  I am, however, simply considering my future and the fact that I am still quite young at the moment.  Despite all my best plans and intents, there is no guarantee that I will remain with my current company forever and, in that case, I need to be prepared should I need to interview and present 'normal' in the process.

The only contacts which MIGHT hide it, would be full eye ones that theatrical specialists make, and my understanding is that these are very uncomfortable and can only safely be worn for very short periods (20-30 minutes at a time or so). So as it stands there is no way to hide eye tattoos.

I'm in agreement with Shannon, this is definitely in the experimental stage as yet, and nothing tangible is known about long term effects. It is also probably the most extreme modification in terms of visibility and permanence. Perhaps even more so than a full facial tattoo, which COULD be covered in make-up or removed with lasers. We communicate via eye contact, so radically changing eyes is pretty likely to cause serious social reactions. You WILL be discriminated against, including when looking for work.  And this is permanent. There is no known way to 'go back', even theoretically atm.

If you are happy with that, including possible complications, potentially not being able to find work in future, and the dramatic increase in social reaction compared to now (just think of all the repetitive questions!), then great. If not then stay well away until you are certain about these things. If you are asking whether it could be hidden, it suggests to me the certainty to embrace the effects it may have on your life is not there yet.

It'd look brilliant on you though!Wink

Thanks for the feedback :)

At this point its almost certainly a matter of when rather than if.  I want this mod so bad it feels absolutely right.  I may or may not have mentioned on here that I am going for a full body demonic transformation and getting my eyes done would do so much to complete the look.  Given the feedback that I've gotten so far as well as some of my own research, it may have to be much further along my transformation than I'd ideally like but that isn't to say that it won't happen and I've had to be patient in the past.

I have seen a documentary on television about it.  I think it may have been a part of the show Taboo, but when I searched for it I found a few links available to several shows.  Have you watched any?  Here is one:

Have you ever chatted with anyone like Enigma or Katzen about their total transformation?  They may have some insights about the ramifications.  I only suggest them because I know them and Katzen would for sure be willing to interact.  Feel free to name drop me and mention Atlanta as a reference point.

You seem like a smart person and willing to be patient and safe about modification.  I am glad you feel so passionate about this!!  You are an inspiration.

I agree, it would look great on you! That particular mod may have to be the last in your transformation, or until you're a little more stable in your career. I completely understand that, too. I've been holding off on getting sleeves done because I'm still so young. Also, my line of work isn't too tattoo-friendly yet.

Awesome that you're thinking of it too.  I'm thinking of dark purple, almost a black purple.

I'd love to get mine done, plain ol' black though. Although for other reasons, it will come further along in my transformation as well.

I'm still very iffy about it though, I'd like to maybe get some input from someone who has gotten this done.
