I just repierced my septum tonight, with plans to stretch it in the future. While looking for jewelry, I came across something interesting: http://www.thechaingang.com/pr…..eptum-tusk

I like the design but not the material. I have my septum stretched and can hardly wait until these are restocked: http://onetribe.nu/item/774

Those pinchers are definitely sexy. I love how they're not too tight on the pinch. I'm looking to get something like that, or something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/6G-Pair-Bo…..163wt_1139. Also, Chris, what size is your septum at currently?

My septum is stretched to a 4ga. For the longest time that's the size I had in mind. Most of the time I wear a retainer as I've never found a piece of jewelry I really love but I'm hoping that pincher above changes that. I have a bone spike like you linked to but it just wasn't me. The jewelry itself looks great though.

I'm actually looking for a bone spike similar to what I linked, but in black, because I'm in the process of purchasing jewelry for my labret up to 1/2" that is black and I want it to match.

I'm not sure if there are many bone spikes that are naturally black, but here's a black spike made of horn:  http://onetribe.nu/item/781  Something like that? You can search the category for various lengths.

More along the lines of: http://onetribe.nu/item/778, because I don't want it so long.

I've seen wood work in a septum (and have made wooden septum jewellery), but i have to say i'm not convinced by the quality of finish on that from the pic. You want a very close grained wood and a very smooth finish.

Horn might work, but personally i find all organics 'sticky' in my septum if that makes sense?

Glass is way more comfortable ime. An added bonus is that you can stretch with it too.

Delrin might work too….

Also bear in mind anatomy with straight pieces. I'm at 00g and straight pieces are uncomfortable for any length of time. I need quite a curve really for it to fit right. – Perhaps i just have a weird nose?!Laugh

i have a 6.5mm septum. i agree that straight spikes have some comfort issues. i was always hitting it for some reason or another. curved jewelry works best for me when im not wearing a retainer. i found a pincher that has a saddle and that works great for me. the pincher i had before always wanted to rotate but with that little impression, it sits pretty good.

I enjoy the pieces with saddles as well.

My septum is still small (3mm) so I can't really say that I've been able to experiment with jewelry much. I just wear a DF glass plug with micro flares. :)

i do like the look of spikes though. LeRoi makes some nice wooden spikes. and I've toyed with the idea of making my own with PTFE… I've also seen some nice carved mammoth ivory tusks (and other rad fossilized ivory jewelry) that I really want, but it being made from an animal I'm conflicted slightly because I am vegan.

I have my septum stretched to 8mm (0g) and I use a tooth from my dog that died a few years ago. I shaped it to hold in the middle but it did not take alot of work. This to me is a good way to keep a little bit of her with me even though she is gone.

I dont wear it enough to get to that point. having it at this size is hard to wear all the time. I love having it but it will get sore after a while.
