What was your first body modification?

It all had to start somewhere. Mine was my labret, when I was 16.

Mine was two parallel surface bars which quickly rejected. Even if they were pierced correctly, which they weren't, I didn't know enough about the correct way to care for them.

My ear lobes when I was about 8, but I let them heal and re-pierced them myself when I was about 13.

My first tattoo was a small one on my back when I was 14.

Other than my lobes when I was young, I used to (and still do sometimes) use a big diaper pin to do piercings when I was in middle school, either in class (which got me saturday school… lol) or in saturday school LMAO. I would push it through my lip or eyebrow or cheek etc. then leave it in for like 1/2 a day and pull it, let it heal and find a new spot the next day.

Mid point of my lower lip. In mom's bathroom, 15 y.o. HT bought Labret stud and

a sewing needle.   (yea ouch)

Away I went, not knowing a clue about jewelry, placement, technique

or proper aftercare.  But I got some metal through, just like I always wanted.

at least for about a week or two then it hurt way to bad and the five or

seven holes I made seemed real upset, I took it out and let it heal, a year later I

had the chance to get it done the right way and down the path I went.

I'm not happy but not ashamed to share this with customers to

promote wise choices and piercings by the book.

Aside from a few failed safety pin style misadventures, i finally got round to having a labret when i was 19. I'd been reading BME for about a year before getting up the courage!

14 years on and it's a different story!

I still have the piercing, although it's a fair bit bigger now!

My first legit body mod, done for me, was 12-gauge earlobes. Control of my hair length has always been big for me since I was 12, but various necessities of life have often wrested control of that.

Cool

Like James, my first was my Labret as well. I was terrified of needles (still am to an extent) but really wanted that particular piercing because I had always admired it. To this day I still have not gone a single day without something in the hole. I change it out frequently but it is never left empty more than a few minutes.

mine was my septum when i was 13. i remember i had watched a documentary on discovery or national geographic on some rain forest tribe. they had stretched ears and porcupine quills in their septums. i was so intrigued i grabbed a safety pin and an ear stud and forever changed my body.did a pretty darn good job if i don't say. i was able to hide it till i was 15. still have it till this day. its at 6.5mm and i have no plans to let it heal up.

First one other than my lobes (at 16) were both my right nostril and left eyebrow on the same day when I was 17 or 18. I actually worked it in to a school project so I ended up getting school credit for going into the shop and asking the guys there a few questions about piercing professionally Cool

@Toaster, I have actually been involved with a few school projects including piercings, as both a piercee and piercer. My ex-girlfriend was modified and did a project on different kinds of body modifications and brought me in, in front of her entire class, and had me as a guest speaker. It was pretty cool.

mine was a combo of needle point and indian ink tattoo and a ear piericing done in the woods around a fire with freinds at age 14 . It was the turning point and a very spritual adventure I will never forget.

I didn't get anything done until I had moved out of my parent's place at 19.  My first was a dragon tattoo on my back at 19.

My first modification
was actually dying my hair. This isn’t something that many people speak of as a
modification, it still modifies the body. I have always known I was different
than that of the "normal day society". This was the first in many
changes.  I don’t have any of my first piercings. In fact I don’t have any
of my first 100 piercings.  I do however remember
the experience of all of my modifications. They have always been a release for
me, no matter how large or small they may be.

My first (minus the lobes I got at a very young age). I had my belly button at 16 then the piercings began. Rather I got them in a shop or by a safety pin, I was getting something new. Once I turned 20, I started stretching my lobes by myself.

My first was my left lobe which my mom took me to get before i was 12 yearls old i believe. My father made me remove it when i was visiting him and then my mom just repierced it at her job later on haha..after that i started getting my ears done normally and my first needle piercing was my tongue.

My first was technically when I was 2, getting my ears pierce, I wouldn't count it except that it was made entirely my choice and when the jeweler/piercer mis placed the second hole I insisted on sitting for essentially a third piercing.  When i was 10 i got second holes and that meant a lot to me. After the age of 14 i got a bunch of ear piercings cause they were what i could get away with but the next one that actually meant anything was my eyebrow, pierced just before summer and by mid august it had moved it's way out.  10 yrs later I'm still coveting some piercings, have moved on to microdermals and my first two are the only ear piercings I keep jewelry in on a regular basis

Asside from my lobes at a really young age, I would consider dying my hair from the ages 12 to 17, my first body mod. As a permanent, I would consider my nostril, done at 13, though I already had three holes in each ear.

Mine was my lobes when i was 18. got them done semi-professionally. I say that as it was at mall jewlery boutique, with the gun style piercers.
