Hello,

i recently found this site and am happy to find likeminded people regarding the more sacred side of body modification. I am working on a project. It may be a brocure, it may be a book or the content may be used in videos. I would like to compile stories of people who perform and recieve body modifications for spiritual reasons and/ or in ritual ceremonial methods. I have been impressed with a lot of what i have read on here and thought this might be a good place to ask for input, hopefully that you dont mind having reprinted.

Currently i am assiting a shop that my wife has begum tattooing for. She performs ink ceremony in addition to non ritual tattooing. We are turning the entire shop in a more ceremonial direction and i am eager to share it with you all once we have completed some changes. We would be using the content in the shop and website to inform people about the meaning of our changes and i think a wider perspective from many people is better than what 2 or 3 people can provide. I am handelling the shop managing as well as setting the ritual space and creating the ceremonies. I was trained as a wiccan priestess in 1998 and have since expanded my spirital practice and am currently panthological.

I would love to hear from people what their beliefs entaill structured or unstructured. whether the perform or receive ceremonial modifications (or both of course) and what that means to them. If you like to share, we would also like to hear more about your rituals. Jess, had some wonderful descriptions as well as a link to a great article about her rituals. That is the sort of thing we are looking for (hey Jess wanna participate? :) Everyone will be credited and can mention their shop. We would love text or video. We will definatly be using text but may also be able to use video and can always dictate from the video.

Anyway i know this is long, sorry. nice to meet you all and thank you moderators for gathering the community!

That sounds like a fascinating project. I am no professional by any means, but I have been receiving modifications, including those for spiritual reasons, for almost a decade. I'd be happy to participate either via written form or Skype. Possibly send me a PM with more information if you'd be interested in my participation.

That sounds like a great project!
I'm happy to participate if you'd like. Do you have any idea about format or perhaps interview type questions?

im glad you are willing to help! i am interested in both sides of the ritual the modified and the modifier and those who play both roles at the same time or separate. i guess i had not really thought through to the details as i would be happy with a variety of formats. i thought some people may have a preference of their own. My ideal situation would be to have participants either monolog or be interviewed (by live questions of typed) so that the text can be taken and used in book format but the video may be able to be used in another side of the same project…

The Skype idea is a good one if we can find a way to record it. If the questions are on paper and the person being interviewed is making something to send to me, there is no ability to ask for more information on a point nor could the answer inspire another question that could be asked.

Some people do better without the lead of questions and some people can only really think clearly if they write things down.

The format certainly can be different for everyone involved if it needs to be so i guess first ill ask how you prefer to be heard, video or audio only, or text. If audio or video do you have a recording device or a video camera (you may have one on your computer, i forget about that one a lot :) Second how do you prefer to share? do you like questions and an interview format or would like to free share you experiences and / or beliefs?

LAst question, do you have skype? i think skype may be ideal fr a long distance live interview and i can record my screen if you allow it or take notes if you prefer.

Basically i would be thrilled to gather input in the way most comfotable and effective for those willing to share.

If you'd prefer to do written I can do written. I find questions to be useful as it'll give a better direction to the answers given. It is, however, up to you. Yes, I do have Skype and a webcam.

I'm in the UK so for time zones, written might be better? I also don't have Skype!

I don't have skype, but I think I would prefer to share my experiences in essay format. As many regular posters can tell you, I have no problem putting a few hundred words down in response to a simple question.

For me, I think the best format for interview would be an email conversation. I'll share a spiritual experience with you, you ask me any questions raised by my experience, I'll reply to those questions, and you ask any more questions raised by my responses. We'll go back and forth until I have satisfied your curiosity.

Then I can write an essay about the experience which tells the story and includes all the information we discussed in the emails. I'd also like to post that essay here when it's done. There's more than a few interested eyes on this forum that just eat up those kinds of stories.

Hit me up at SasQuatch9585@gmail.com, but keep in mind I have a crazy work schedule which gives me a ton of free time all at once, and then dominates my time for days at a time, so bring your patience with you.

Sometimes I wonder if I can say anything in less than a hundred words.

Skype is free and most computers come with a built in web cam. If your computer is a bit older, you can purchase one for about $10.

Yo Kristen, would you like to skype? I know you are so far away.

Also, some interesting things in space are happening in the next few weeks and I'd love to have a chat in the church chat room or maybe a video skype. Could we get our new members in other countries to join in??

Anyone?

I would be interested in participating as well. Either thru written form or on skype. Either way works for me. PM me some info and we can get something set up.
