What do you guys think about tapers? I know there is a lot of hate towards them and the way 'hardcore' kids force their ears up with them, but personally, i love them. i've used the for my lobes, tragus, and am about to use them for my tongue.

I used tapers all the way up to a 0 gauge on my ears and for my septum stretches. I am not a professional but I don't necessarily think tapers are the probl. If one listens to their body and only stretched when its ready then they work fine. If one stretches too fast that can cause problems but so can virtually any other method if one is stretching too quickly.

Yeah, I've used tapers up to 14mm so far, and have kits to taper all the way up to 3 inches.. If the ear is ready to stretch, the taper is just a medium to ease the next size in, not force it to expand unwillingly.

I used tapers for a while, then it just didn't work for me. I don't like wearing tapers as jewelry(It bugs me), and shoving it through moved too fast for my poor ears. So, I just stuck with taping plugs.

I use tapers to reinsert my lip and nostril piercings whenever I want. It is really just a good guide through the tight tiny tube and I do it with ease. It allows me to have a bit more freedom to choose what jewelry I wear and when. I have never used a taper on my lobes. I have used tapers on my nipples because it is difficult to focus the mind when the feeling gets intense in that area, so it allowed me to go slow, breathe, and refocus.

I think there are plenty of great reasons to have tapers to use in your home… just be careful!

Everyone has something to say about the Mona Lisa until you're standing in front of it speechless.

Wearing tapers as jewelery is bad, because it warps your ears and the weight can make them grow on odd and nasty angles, another mistake i made when i first started stretching. I found that when i stretched with the taping method, my ears grew to the tape – i used PFTE, teflon, bondage – no matter which stretching friendly tape i used, i grew to it. So i love my tapers and kits to bits!

At smaller sizes I found tapers to be wonderful. At larger sizes I find taping to be much more effective. I couldn't imagine using a taper at the size I am now. It took me a while to find the right tape to make my ears happy, but currently I use bondage tape and that seems to work quite well.
