first off never wear white to a conch punch its just a bad idea!!! but i ot them punched at 8mm then tapered to 10mm i kinda upset my piercer cause i didn't flinch at all i kept giggling the whole time it sucked when my ears filled with blood i couldnt hear that well just muffled noises but there was a lot of blood unfortunatly theres still a lot of blood and i got em done at about 7 oclock yesterday im waiting for a call back from my artist Georg Birns from high priestess in Eugene OR we might have to stretch em to 7/16 to stop the blood flow i currently have gauze in there to soak up the blood we went with the lower position "sadhu style" for a more traditional feel i think my favorite part is i had one conch done at a 8g so the bit that got cut out is pierced so im gonna put it in embalming fluid with a piece of jewelry through it Smile im still shocked that im in absolutely no pain my artist is convinced that hes gonna find a mod that'll make me scream thoughYell

Sounds great!

I've been wanting to get my conch punched for a while now. Best of luck in healing!

Ice will help out for the first several days for sure!!  Also, don't forget about the towel trick for sleeping.  You roll up a towel and put it into a circle shape so your head will have support without smashing your ear.  Most people tell me they must sleep sitting up at first and then the towel trick is useful.  I bet the loss of blood will really give your immune system a boost for the upcoming winter season!  I'm glad it went well…. although your pillow may have a different opinion.Wink

ive been doing the towel trick i almost had to sleep up right in a chair but it stopped bleeding so i didnt need to do it. at this point theres no more bleeding its weeping small amounts of plasma and a tiny amount of swelling but still no discomfort not even to the touch i think it hurt more when it was freshly pierced at a 14g than it has this time.

Cheers for sharing, and glad it's healing well now.

Mine bled for a while too. It actually needed downsizing in the end as the pressure was keeping the tissue inflamed  which kept the wound open. I know that sounds counter intuative, but watch for that if it starts bleeding again and won't stop. It seems a better option than stretching again imho.

Do you know if the cartliage was cracked?

it hasn't started bleeding again but i think i need to downsize after the swelling went down the 0-rings started sinking into the piercing and when i loosened the o-ring they slipped around very easily  and the cartilage didn't crack

Wow that's a big stretch with no cracking! I know some guys deliberately crack to make stretching easier.

I get the theory of stretching immediately, but i think actually it causes more trauma and potential for complications. It's going to bleed anyway, so punching and inserting jewellery of the same dimension seems the best bet imho.

I like the idea of embalming fluid. What did you do in the end?

I kept my first, and it's a little dry disc with 3 distinct layers now.

I was going to eat the bit from my next punch, but it got stuck in the biopsy punch. :/

Maybe next time! :)
