Ive got a right nostril piercing now-had to retire the left, which was a very sad moment for me. It was a important piercing, literally got that after I survived a Tylenol induced coma. Rough time. Anyways, some questions for anyone whos got a nostril piercing:what worked for you to reduce occassional swelling? Did you ever have peeling skin around your piercing site? (I do atm and have no idea what to do about it. It looks kinda gnarly to be honest. Also,is there any truth to using tea tree oil to treat "the bump?" Ive not had one yet but am told its guaranteed to happen, just a matter of time. Thanks in advance for anyones help.

It's hard to give much advice without pictures and more info.

How old is it? What jewellery is in it?

If it is skin peeling that is likely a sign of healing, especially if accompanied by inflammation. If the piercing is healed that suggests some irritation, so removing that is the key.

Good aftercare, warm saline soaks twice daily, and high quality jewellery should be enough. The occasional flare up may happen if you catch it, sleep on it, a bit of dirt gets in etc, but keep up the good hygiene and it will settle.

If you have a more specific problem then i can offer suggestions, but for now keep it clean and simple, and don't put anything else on it, and you should be fine.

Any peeling I've ever had was due to what I was cleaning the site with. The soaps the piercing studios give you are often very drying, especially in the winter months- so I stopped using those! I suggest salt water soaks, which have done wonders for all of my piercings. I also use the nostril saline sprays. Hope that helps!
