A Lady's Tongue Split Experience | Experiences | Forum

I saw a post on tongue splitting, and wanting to share my experience with everyone as well!
I have always wanted to get it done, but I was terrified up until I got to watch my boyfriend get his done. After realizing how easy of a procedure it is, I decided to make the appointment and go!
We had to travel about 6 hours to get to the shop, which is located in Harrisburg, PA. It was a relatively fast procedure. The artist's assistant held both sides of my tongue with gauze and he cut all the way back to were I had it pierced, and when the ring feel out it was over!
The whole procedure took maybe 30 seconds (and soundly a lot like the sound of celery breaking, or when someone rips apart iceberg lettuce- which I found hysterical afterwards) My tongue didn't get any stitches in it, he put gauze in between and we headed straight back home.
Yes, it was painful and uncomfortable, but no where NEAR as bad as I thought it was going to be. I think the worse part was having to change out the gauze every 20 minutes in a moving car, which ended up being even more painful then the split itself. I was able to eat soup that night and then (carefully) eat solids the next day. It swelled only a little and effected my speech for a couple days, but then everything was normal. It healed fully in about 3-4 weeks, and it is my favorite part of myself. It was an amazing experience, because I never thought I would be able to have the courage to do it. But I didn't let fear hold me back anymore, and it was an amazing experience.
I've had a tiny bit of regrowth, which I expected since I only had my tongue pierced for 5 months before the procedure. I do admit that I obsessively check it everyday to make sure it isn't growing forward anymore (Which it isn't, but I'm obsessive and can't help it haha) I'm planning on going back in the near future to get it split back even farther, which I can't wait for.
I honestly didn't do much to clean it beyond my normal dental hygiene routine and it healed fine!
I included a photo of it I took a few weeks ago!
Thanks for reading :3

Yes it was yours, and I loved that you shared the experience. I find that where I live, people who are more "like me" still look at me weird for having a split tongue, so its nice to hear about others positive experiences and that they also don't regret anything. It's also my favorite mod.
